The Broken Clay is a Sporting Clays event that is put on by Humphrey & Associates annually to raise money for Young Life. Sporting Clays is considered to be the equivalent of Golf with a Shotgun. We shoot 100 scheduled targets as well as optional shooting games running through out the day. Young Life is a non-denominational ministry that has been reaching out to middle school and high school aged kids for over 50 years. (You can learn more about Young Life at www.younglife.org.)
The first year of the event was nothing short of miraculous. The shoot was planned for 40 days before the event took place, and we had 195 shooters and over 40 volunteer workers. The event raised over $10,000 for Young Life.
The second year we hosted over 200 shooters and almost 100 volunteers. The 2nd Annual Broken Clay raised $20,000 for Young Life. One-half of the funds raised went directly to "Camperships" across the Northeast Texas Area.
The 2007 Humphrey & Associates Broken Clay was a Blast! Actually over 32,000 Blasts as 302 shooters fired shotguns to benefit the Young Life Ministry across North Texas raising over $44,000. People are still talking about it.
The 2008 Broken Clay hosted over 350 shooters and volunteers all centered around a lunch prepared by executive chefs from Vermejo Park Ranch, a silent auction and some amazing raffles, one of which required the use of a helicopter! When the dust had settled we raised over $71,000 for Young Life.
